← Under 10

The 2018/2019 season started with the team participating in a Charity tournament supporting the 'Give Tate a Hand' campaign. This was run for a fantastic cause and we were happy to support. Despite terrible weather the boys played really well and succeeded in beating PROCCO academy form Southampton in the final. We wish the charity all the success possible with their charity.

The end of the 2018 season finished with the team playing in a number of tournaments across Sussex and wider. The team equiped themselves well across all events and managed to remain unbeaten in all tournaments at Under 9, winning all 6 tournaments entered.

Inaddition the team entered two tournaments outside of their age group. In the Polegate event they were beaten in the semi final and in the PSA Cup succeeded in winning the Plate event. A superb acheivement given the standard of the opposition that included a number of private academies.

This was a great way to finsh the season and for the boys to experience the excitement of knock out football. All great preparations for 2018/2019.

Having competed at St Georges Park, the team travelled to the National Sports centre to participate in a 7 a side event. The tournament coincided with the extremely hot weather making playing any sport a challenge. As in other tournaments, the team were too stronge for a number of their opponents reaching the final. Unfortaunately having led twice a late equaliser meant the game was to be decided by penalties. The boys were eventually beaten in sudden death. Great credit must be given to our opponents who were gracious in their victory.

The Under 9 team particiated in the One Tournament Event hosted at the home of the English FA St Georges Park. Across the weekend the boys participated in two competitions - The 7 a side and the 5 side tournaments.

In the 7 a side tournament the boys reached the semi final before being beaten on penalties to a very strong team from Merseyside. Throughout the entire tournament the boys did not lose a game or concede a goal. It was a disappointing end to the day however much credit was taken from the comments made by the organisers, opposition coaches and parents.

In the 5 a side tournament the boyes were keen to progress further but found the small format of the game initially difficult to adjust to, losing one game in their group. However having got to grips with the change in pitch and formation played well in the knock out stages reaching the final. Having conceded an early goal, the team battled well eventaully winning the final 3-2. The game was very tight with chances at both ends. The boys desired to win after their efforts across the two days.

We look forward to returning next season to defend our title.

The Under 9 team finished their preparation for the forthcoming season by winning the RMA tournament held at Shoreham Academy. The boys played eight group games winning 7, drawing 1 and only conceding 1 goal.

The team progressed to the semi final winning comfortably 3-0 before facing West Hove Dynamos in the final.  In a close game Ratton dominated possession but failed to convert a number of chances. The breakthrough came in the sixth minute and the team never looked like losing from this point. The final score ended 3-0 to Ratton.

A fantastic performance throughout.
