For the 2018/2019 season the Under 10 team will be playing in the Hageland Cup, Belgium. This is the largest tournament across Belgium and we look forward to playing against some top European teams.
12 players from the team travelled to Salou to participate in the Barcelona Football Festival across the May bank Holiday. The playesr arrived on Friday and spent the afternoon looking around the Camp Nou and the club shop. Saturday was spent playing qualifying games in which the boys played teams from Spain, Fance and the UK. The highlight of the day was playing against FC Barcelona. After Day 1 the boys stood in second position.
On Sunday the team returned to play their final qualifying matches. Having won these two matches the team finished in second place and qualified for the Cup competition. The play off round saw the team play a Spain team followed by a Frecnh team, eventaully losing in the 1/4 final. The tournament was a considerable success for the team, who due to the european age groupings, were playing against boys 18 months older than themselves.
On Monday the team spend the day at the beach before packing up and returning to the UK. This was a great experience for all the boys and the coaching team were proud of their endeavours.
We are already planning next seasons trip.
The time until the team depart for Salou is growing ever closer and we are now starting our preparations for whats to come. Games played on larger pitches and using a larger ball will be some of the challenges the boys will face, as well as the higher temperatures. The organising body have updated their website and details of the event can be found at https://www.barcelonafootballfestival.com/
The Under 9 team are looking for sponsors to support the Salou Tour. Sponsors who are interested in supporting by providing tour kit and training clothing should contact Mark via email firstname.lastname@example.org
Following the success of the tour last season to Holland, the Under 9 team will be departing for Salou during May Half Term 2018. The tour will include a four night stay in a beach side hotel, a trip to the home of Barcelona FC and entry into the Barcelona Cup. This is a huge European competition that will see over 180 teams come together across different age groups. We are pleased to confirm that we have over 40 players and parents attending the tour.
